Frequently Asked Questions

As our tests require incubation at 37 degrees celsius, an incubator is
required to operate within ± 1°
if quantified results (ie the number of organisms present) need to be known.
While yes/no answers may be found at lower temperatures for total coliforms and
E. coli, the results will take considerably longer at lower temperatures (for
example, 22 hours for <1 coliform / 100 mL at 28° and 45 hours at 21° C). At
these extended test times, there is a possibility of false positives after 16-20
hours if a specific Citrobacter or Enterobacter species is present.
- Single Unit Simple Incubator
-
This is a simple warmer that we have tested to run at 37°
C ± 1°. This
unit is suitable for irregular testing where precise levels of contamination
are not required and where yes/no answers may be suitable. While it can be
used for precise quantification, you must continuously observe the colour
changes at the critical times you might expect results.

Micro Magic
-
The Micro Magic is available as a combined incubator,
spectrophotometer and analyser as the Basic Model (with data print out or
USB file recovery), Audit and Alarm Model (with inbuilt GPS/GPRS) or Data
Logger Model (which has multi site recording/reporting and web based
interface. It is ideal for portable situations and offices where laboratory
facilities are not available or very fast times are required in which
decisions must be made.
